The
Sysinternals
web site was created in 1996 by Mark Russinovi
ch
and Bryce Cogswell to host their advanced system utilities
and technical information. Microsoft acquired Sysinternals
in July, 2006. Whether you’re an IT Pro or a developer,
you’ll find Sysinternals utilities to help you manage,
troubleshoot and diagnose your Windows systems and
applications
The Sysinternals Troubleshooting Utilities have been rolled
up into a single Suite of tools. This file contains the
individual troubleshooting tools and help files. It does not
contain non-troubleshooting tools like the BSOD Screen Saver
or NotMyFault.
The Suite is a bundling of the following selected
Sysinternals Utilities:

HijackThis
lists the contents of key areas of the
Registry and hard drive--are
as
that are used by both legitimate programmers and hijackers.
The program is continually updated to detect and remove new
hijacks. It does not target specific programs and URLs, only
the methods used by hijackers to force you onto their sites.
As a result, false positives are imminent, and unless you're sure about what you're doing, you always should consult with knowledgeable folks before deleting anything.
